I found Lea Ann's feedback super-helpful! The one thing that stood out was being reminded to not 'shy away from highlighting negative emotions' – because donors need that to get involved. (It struck me then that 'political correctness' might have snuck its way into our appeal letters!)
It was a good reminder that no matter how long one has been writing appeal letters it's always so useful to get a tune-up. It was also a great for the team to be able to have an external endorsement - for them know that the work we are doing in sending donors direct mail is on-track.
Now to the results... with appeals we try to grow one-off income compared to the prior year, by trying new things/making small tweaks as capacity allows. But 2024 - well it was a year of appeal income being a bit static! The Christmas Appeal results followed that trend. Income was $163,549 - just a bit higher than 2023 ($160,077). Still great but we'll be hoping for more this year!
